Other types of worship
Besides its regular Sunday worship, Hope Central Church occasionally holds other types of worship, either on Sunday nights or on weeknights. Everyone is welcome to these special services. Some of the different forms they have taken over the years are listed below. To find out what's planned for the future, visit our Calendar. For more information, submit our Contact Form or call the church office at 617-522-0600.
Meditation prayer group: This monthly gathering is a time of quiet prayer. It begins with listening to an ancient prayer chant for 35 minutes, followed by a time of quiet, and then 10 minutes of petition prayer. After an hour, everyone goes home, refreshed.
Taizé prayer: Occasionally we have prayer services in the style of Taizé, a diverse monastic community in France where simplicity and kind-heartedness are lived out as essential Gospel realities. Taizé services offer an experience of the beauty of God through the simplicity of song, scripture, and silence.
Healing services: Combining elements of contemplative prayer, Taizé, and other worship arts, we gather in silence, scripture, and song laying out burdens and joys before God. The service always allows us to come together and hold one another, our communities, and the world.
Labyrinth walks: Occasionally we have a service centered around walking a labyrinth, a geometric pattern with a well-defined pathway winding its way to the center and back out again. Labyrinths have a lengthy history in Christianity and other cultures. The labyrinth we have at Hope Central Church is a fascimile of the stone labyrinth in the great cathedral of Chartres, France, which has been walked since the 1200's! A labyrinth can be a tool to provide calm, guide healing, deepen self knowledge, empower creativity. It helps people to see their lives as a path or a pilgrimage
